Colette Colligan is Professor of English at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. Her recent work on pornographic writing has appeared in Victorian Studies, Book History, Histoires Littéraires, and the Cambridge Companion to Erotic Literature.

This volume examines the growth of high-end literary pornographic productions that took place towards the final quarter of the nineteenth century and were largely published on the continent where control of production was lax. These publications were published and circulated for the elite.
