For twenty years Grace Pond was married to a hardhearted, difficult man. Their only meeting of the minds was over food, and that resulted in both of them becoming substantially overweight during their years together.

When a car accident gave Grace the opportunity to escape her neglectful marriage, she took it and ran away from her adulterous husband. Her church family and the police suspected Grace's husband was responsible for her sudden disappearance. They even believed he may have murdered her. What they didn't suspect was that Grace was still alive somewhere.

Now, having lived a dual existence for the seven years since her disappearance, Grace needs to figure out how she can reclaim her life. Set in the Pocono Mountains, Grace's struggle to face her weight problem and restore balance for her body and soul is held together by her church family and religious principles. But when she discovers that David, a man whom she has come to love in her new life, has known all along about the circumstances of her disappearance and wants to help her reconcile with the adulterous husband she left behind, she has to question his motives.
