He set about building a ship longer, wider, and taller than anything that would be attempted in hundreds, perhaps thousands of years Methuselah, at the Lord's command, kept secret from Noah about a tragedy that would befall the Ark. A tragedy that would test Noah and his family's faith. A tragedy that would lead Hiram to make changes in the Ark's construction that would provide additional safety and comfort. Meanwhile Noah had to endure hardship, tragedy, and derision of his neighbors as he built the Ark on dry land. Instead of faltering, he preached redemption and warned them of the coming Deluge. As if that was not enough, there arose an enemy who opposed him and would slay him if at all possible. An enemy who saw in him not only a fool, but a threat to her. Added to that a nephew, Jareb, who believed God had called him to establish another refuge in the mountains. A refuge within the mountain and capable of handling hundreds more than the Ark.
