Normal Development of Voice

Autor Mette Pedersen
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 22 oct 2023
This fully revised and extended second edition provides a comprehensive, most up-to-date overview of the investigation of quantitative measurement in the complex of voice.
Important objective parameters of normal voice development are assessed, especially relevant when pathological deviations have to be recognized and defined. The description of different qualities of normal voice development in terms of measurable parameters is provided.
The book highlights the hormonal changes that have a considerable influence on the physical development of boys and girls, and how it is possible to predict the voice transition statistically. The extent to which hormones affect voice development in the two genders are made clear in this work through the observation of a number of parameters.
In this second edition, the focus is extended to include High-Speed Video images and further discussion. Possible interesting topics for further research are also emphasized. This book will be a valuable resource for laryngologists, phoniatricians, and teachers in their daily work.
This is an open access book.

Notă biografică

Mette Pedersen Ph.D. FRSM has been working in private practice as an otolaryngologist in Copenhagen, Denmark, treating voice problems for more than 40 years. Her primary professional and research interests are in the field of voice production and voice disorders, for 10 years she also worked as a consultant laryngologist at the Copenhagen Singing School and acquired knowledge on the normal development of voice in girls and boys. For 4 years she was one of two Danish medical representatives in COST 2103 created by the European Union to exchange knowledge on voice studies in the EU. Yearly voice symposia based on COST were held in Denmark from 2010 to 2018. The 7th World Voice Consortium conference was held in Copenhagen in 2017 under her presidency. She is a board member of the Danish Voice Association, which is part of EVTA, the International Voice Association, and has beena Danish representative in the European Union of Phoniatricians for many years.
