Jamie Dubois's love life has been a series of calamities for as long as she can remember. And through these calamities, she has noticed a dismaying pattern-men who come bearing flowers are usually delivering heartaches as well. So at age thirty-five, she prefers to focus on her flourishing career in Houston, Texas, while keeping love at a distance. Literally. But when her remote, occasional lover, Ken, decides to take a job in Houston with Jamie's employer, her calculated control begins to unravel.
