*Written as a response to the many societal and climate catastrophes¿increased gun violence, war, and plague, and while doing research into historical plagues¿the book looks at how that has led to a shift in our perception of world, our projection of world, what we think we can perceive of it. *Author has published nine books of poetry and was a finalist for many awards for her most recent book A Little More Red Sun on the Human (Nightboat, 2019), which received The Northern California Book Award. The author is the recipient of The Shelley Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America. *Author has taught for many years at Sonoma State University and also been a visiting professor at the University of Iowa Writers¿ Workshop, the University of Denver, Vermont College, and Tulane University. *Author has been the editor of Volt, an annual poetry publication, for more than 20 years. In this capacity she has published scores of contemporary American poets. *Author has also been awarded the Jerome J. Shestack Poetry Prize, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and a Fund for Poetry Award. *Author has toured across the country upon the release of her latest book A Little More Red Sun on the Human, including at Booksmith in San Francisco, ¿¿Beyond Baroque in Los Angeles, the University of Richmond, the University of Massachusetts, and So-and-So Books in Raleigh. *Conoley has collaborated with installation artist Jenny Holzer, composer Jamie Leigh Sampson, and Buhto dancer Judith Kajuwara.

Notă biografică

Gillian Conoley is a poet, editor, and translator. A long-time resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Conoley is currently Professor of English and Poet-in-Residence at Sonoma State University where she edits VOLT.
