Numbers Everywhere
Fotografii de Elliott Kaufmanen Limba Engleză Hardback – 4 noi 2013 – vârsta de la 3 ani
A follow up the successful Abbeville Kids title Alphabet Everywhere, Elliott Kaufman’s creative photography book allows children (and adults) to discover unintended number shapes found in unexpected places.
As in Alphabet Everywhere, where there was a world of letters just waiting to be discovered, Numbers Everywhere reveals how digits and mathematical symbols can be found in the world around us—if we know how to look for them. In this engaging and delightful book, Kaufman reveals the "secret" life of numbers through his photographs, showing how they can be found in things we encounter everyday. Each number is represented by multiple images, unintentionally created by the intersection of architectural details, shadows, light, or natural elements as caught by the photographer’s keen eye. In “addition"… Numbers Everywhere includes “formulas” for budding mathematicians to solve. This fun approach also reinforces the notion that learning to see the familiar in new ways encourages visual literacy and creativity.
With an eye-catching die-cut hardcover, Numbers Everywhere will inspire number-hunters of all ages, and appeal to both children's and gift buyers.

Excerpt from Numbers Everywhere
Preface
The visual adventure that began with letters in Alphabet Everywhere continues with numbers—uncovered and discovered an environments I encountered from day to day, inside and outside, in the city and out in the countryside. As you will see, numbers appeared to me in many expected places: among ferns sprouting an early spring (9), in the chandeliers at Grand Central Station (0), on mailboxes along country roads (4), etched in the bark of an old oak tree (6). In the last part of the book, you'll find some environmental equations and architectural arithmetic—images of numbers combined to form math problems you can solve.
I photographed this book with a camera that pretty much anyone can use. So why not begin your own hunt for “accidental” numbers and capture them with your own device? Start exploring your neighborhood and remember to watch carefully as the perfect number you never noticed before emerges from the crack in the sidewalk you’re standing on right now!
