Odd Woman Out

"Odd Woman Out: Black Girl Abroad" is a fish-out-of-water tale about life outside of the United States as experienced by an African American woman, specifically in Taiwan where Amaro teaches English as a second language. During her adaptation to her new life and her new self, Amaro rises and falls several times but is continually able to pick up the pieces and move on. Through self-love, determination, and a long walk with God, Amaro overcomes her past life of promiscuity, adultery, self-hatred, and fear.

From dancing with Zulu warriors and sitting in the prison cell of Nelson Mandela to living, loving, and learning in Taiwan, "Odd Woman Out" will stimulate thought, provoke change, and challenge the status quo in the minds of individuals of all races -especially young African Americans.
