Nathaniel Jones, a middle-aged businessman from England, travels to Anguilla on holiday when he's captivated by a ludicrously beautiful member of the community, Sheila Rawlingson. After a secret courtship, Nathaniel proposes to Sheila, whose agreement is seen as a betrayal by her family. Recognising the value Anguillans place on economic projects, Nathaniel attempts to found an ill-conceived airline business to gain support and favour. They turn to Sheila's uncle for financial backing, who foils their best-laid plans at every turn.
