While serving as a radioman aboard the USS O'Bannon, 3 February, 1944 until our ship escorted the Missouri for the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay, I kept a diary. During which time our ship earned 12 battle stars, the Philippine Liberation medal with 2 battle stars, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and later warded the Combat Action Ribbon. It is a report on all the action to earn the above awards.
