ScienceWiz(R) Online Discovery Animals: Learn about the different types of animals, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Are spiders, worms and insects animals, too? How about starfish or sponges? How about amoeba? Take a look at one. What do you think? Can you identify the footprint of each animal? Is it a rabbit? Is it a bird? Is it a horse? Is it a snail? Includes mask making, footprints and sticker creation. Make an animal migration chart. Who went South? Who went North? Who lives where? Figure out who eats whom. Play Twenty Questions online with Electra to guess which animal she is thinking about. Electra talks and recognizes both text and speech. She answers yes/no questions about the animal. She gets cheeky if you ask obnoxious questions. Can you guess which animal she is thinking about? This product comes in a handle box that includes materials and instructions for the projects. It also includes access to an online discovery flipbook that integrates the hands-on projects with videos, simulations, apps and with Electra, who talks and plays games. Materials for mask making and stickers are included.

Notă biografică

Penny Norman, Ph.D. earned a doctoral degree in Biophysics from U.C. Berkeley. She became involved with the development of primary grade science materials through volunteer work, which she began as her own children started school. During this process she became deeply concerned about the limited exposure of elementary age students to the physical sciences. Her concern has translated into a 20 year effort to test and revamp science materials for the primary grades. Her work with children developed into a product line initially under the auspices of grants from the National Science Foundation and the Franklin Foundation. Her published titles reflect Dr. Norman's extensive testing and involvement with children and teachers and her love and commitment to both.
