Osterreichisches Biographisches Lexikon 1815-1950

de Limba Germană Paperback
The Osterreichisches Biographisches Lexikon (The Austrian Biographical Encyclopaedia) covers major personalities who were born, lived or worked in the territory of Austria of the period, and who died between 1815 and 1950. Inclusion in the work is determined by extraordinary achievements in science, politics, the fine or performing arts, literature, sport, and the administration of societies and associations. Particular attention is given to less well-known or forgotten figures, who are generally sought in vain in works of this kind. The 63rd instalment covers entries from the Ragusan Luca Stulli (Stulae) to Szanto (several entries for this name). It includes, among others, such notable personalities as Nobel Peace Prize winner Bertha von Suttner, the Slovakian politician and linguist Ludovit tur, Jewish cantor and composer Salomon Sulzer, the composer Franz von Suppe, the wellknown geologist and politician Eduard Suea, the Liberal party member Eduard Sturm and his Christian Socialist namesake and director of the Austrians Peasants League, Josef Sturm, the well-known Czech Agrarian politician Antonin vehla, all important members of the Sturany family (Sturany Palace on the Ringstraae), artist and photographer Julius Sylvester, the last Serbian vojvode of the Austro-Hungarian Empire Stevan upljikac de Vitez, landscape gardener Carl Gustav Svensson and art historian and archaeologist Heinrich Swoboda.
