Spainhower (July 1953) Two young girls watched this commitment, this trust, played out in their parents' lives during the decade from 1950 to 1960 as they prepared for the mission field and spent several years ministering to the Balega tribe in the jungles of the Belgian Congo, Africa. The family experienced God's faithfulness time after time in big things as well as little ones-the check that arrived just when it was most needed...battles with malaria that almost claimed the lives of one sister and the girls' mother...a narrow escape from the war-torn Congo. These experiences, and many others, shaped the rest of their lives. Rev. and Mrs. Spainhower, now with the Lord, left to their two daughters copies of their missionary newsletters as well as personal letters from their ministry in the Belgian Congo.
