Oxford Reading Tree: Y6/P7: TreeTops Storywriter: CD-ROM: Unlimited User Licence

Autor Kate Ruttle, Pie Corbett
en Limba Engleză CD-ROM – 26 apr 2006
TreeTops Storywriter is part of a structured reading programme for juniors from Oxford Reading Tree, Levels 9-16 and comprises: CD-ROMs, Pupils' Books and Teacher's Guides, one for each year group from Year 3/P4-Year 6/P7. Each CD-ROM provides a unique planning grid, enabling the children to plan and structure their story before they begin to write, as well as support for improving and 'publishing' their writing. It contains specially commissioned, complete stories by top TreeTops authors which demonstrate the key features of each fiction text type. The Imagination Springboards section is packed with games and ideas for 'short-burst' creative writing, and the Writer's Toolkit is a handyreference bank to help children with the basics of grammar and punctuation, settings and characters. The CD-ROM also provides teacher prompts for each screen to help teachers model the writing process, and audio tips and hints throughout for pupils working independently. Used alongside the Pupil Book, this invaluable writingtool puts the fun back into story writing through ICT, and makes the worry of a blank sheet of paper a thing of the past.

Recenzii

The approach is clear and straightforward with instructions in user-friendly speech. Its great strength is that it combines some easy-to-use, ready-prepared materials with the capacity to edit and build up one's own resources.
Links to the NLS are clear and the text types in the Pupil Book are fully appropriate. The clarity of the writing process is a real strength.
This is an ideal way of making sure that ICT is really embedded in literacy teaching. As a SENCO I especially liked the frequent opportunities for differentiation that really addressed the needs of the less able pupil. I would definitely want to use this as a resource with my class... It would raise teacher confidence levels and raise the standards of children's independent story writing.
