Introduction In St. Peter's opening letter to the Christians of the first century St. Peter encourages his Christian brothers and sisters to remain faithful to the great and powerful gifts bestowed upon them thru the life of Jesus Christ. St. Peter says that thru the use of the gifts of eternal life and devotion to God, thru Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, they will come to "share in the divine nature." (2 Peter 1:4) In this group of essays, we will look at the various ways in which this teaching of St. Peter can be interpreted as well as how the other Gospel writers, as well as St. Paul, teach the same message in their writings of the New Testament.
