- Weinzweig is considered one of the first feminist writers in Canada, Passing Ceremony was her debut novel. Her novels have been taught and discussed in women's studies courses on campuses across the country. She was a highly regarded literary figure in the 1960s and 1970s; her works speak to the experiences of women who lived during that time, and her style and voice was groundbreaking.
- Weinzweig's collection of short stories, A View from the Roof, was shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction, and, in 1996, a stage version written by playwright Dave Carley debuted in a Toronto theatre to positive reviews.
- The A List edition will feature an introduction by Jim Polk.
- This A List edition coincides with both the 150th anniversary of Canada's confederation and the 50th anniversary of House of Anansi Press.

HELEN WEINZWEIG is the author of the novels Passing Ceremony and Basic Black with Pearls, winner of the Toronto Book Award. Her short story collection, A View from the Roof, was shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction. Helen Weinzweig died in Toronto in 2010.
