Penelope and Mrs. Grace

Autor Andrew T. Kankey
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 21 aug 2011
Something is amiss in the small town of Enon. Owners are frantically looking for their beloved dogs, but to no avail. Mrs. Grace, a typical Midwest mother, decides to tackle the mystery. She puts together the best team of amateur gum-shoes she can find, including her pet pig Penelope, the neighbor's girls, and her own young but clever grandson. Of course Penelope does not see the world from the same perspective as Mrs. Grace, and while she is very eager to help with the investigation, she is not a fan of dogs in general. As the team digs in, they discover assorted clues which eventually lead them to a short list of suspects. A mixture of science, intuition, and the use of the different perspectives of the team members lead to a potentially dangerous night-time reconnaissance by Mrs.Grace. The book reveals the integrated nature of living in a small village by building the story around the characters in a typical neighborhood.
Andrew T. Kankey grew up in the small southwest Ohio village of Enon. At a young age he developed a flair for drama, a passion for academics, and a love of story telling. He graduated from Greenon High School in a class of about 100 students. He played trombone in the Greenon Band, and acted in every play from the sixth grade through his senior year. The Ohio State University was next. He started by studying architecture, but soon moved to mechanical engineering. Andy was very involved with and then became an active leader of the OSU Medieval and Renaissance Society. His studies led to a BS degree (Magna Cum Laude). He then attended graduate school at Penn State University, completing a masters and doctorate. His special area of study was acoustics, and his dissertation dealt with underwater acoustics. He was a member of the Penn State Thespians and acted in several community theater plays at the Boal Barn near the campus.
