A highly critical, but well-balanced study of the issues surrounding the turbulent political situation in Nigeria during the last decade of the 20th century. The book analyses the various groups within the Nigerian pro-democracy movement and examines their efforts at social mobilisation of Nigeria's civil society in the process of collective action against corrupt military rule; movements that eventually paved the way for the return of democratic governance in 1999.
