Performance of Corn Stoves

Autor David Starks
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 25 oct 2013
In the United States, there is a vast supply of agricultural products being produced in the central region - particularly corn. Corn is easily handled and stored, but cannot remain in extended storage due to spoilage. To find an alternative use for this excess grain, some farmers have turned to burning this corn as a heat source during the winter. With the rising costs of gas, oil, and other non-renewable energies skyrocketing, there has been rising interest in alternative and renewable energies. Since the practice of corn-fired heat has already been established, the rest of the general population is beginning to take notice, with corn burning furnace manufacturers following suit. However, many consumers are not taking the time to validate claims of cheaper heat by these corn burning appliances, and are making blind purchasing decisions. This publication will explain some of the truths and fallacies of using corn for heat in a residential environment.
