Sylvia Weinstein Craft is publisher and editor of Oyster Pointer, an award-winning feature newspaper and primary source of “good news” information for the city of Newport News, Virginia. Prior to launching Oyster Pointer in 1986, Sylvia spent 26 years with the Virginia Peninsula Industrial Council (VPIC), an organization devoted to improving the community through economic development, where she was the council’s director of public relations for 11 years.
A true entrepreneur, Sylvia formed her own public relations, advertising and marketing agency, which later became The Weinstein Agency, a successful business, garnering many international and national awards.
Sylvia attended The College of William & Mary and has been serving her community as an exemplary role model for decades, receiving numerous awards including a Humanitarian Award presented by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, for her community involvement, professional leadership and lifetime of contributions to improving the lives of others.
Sylvia resides in Newport News, Virginia.
