Plunged into the Trinity

Autor Ernest Skublics
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 22 apr 2019
The sacraments make our ""plunge"" into communion with the Trinity visible and tangible. Baptism is literally a ""plunge"", but only the beginning of our organic incorporation, through the Body of Christ, as participants in the very life of God. The Eucharistic Body makes us into the Ecclesial Body of the Second Person of the Trinity. This communion is the fulfillment of the Great Commandment, and each sacrament represents a particular application of this union. Finally, the Church itself is the Great Sacrament of the world's restoration in love to perfect communion with God. The ten reflections in this book attempt to deepen our appreciation for this Great Mystery. ""The book offers an amazing richness of knowledge as to how this Trinitarian mystery is alive and operative in the Church, especially in the Sacraments. I am particularly grateful for the further confirmation the author presents of the truth of Maria Montessori's statement early in the twentieth century that 'the liturgy is the magnificent teaching tool of the Church,' along with Sofia Cavalletti's and Gianna Gobbi's rediscovery of the centrality of the Bible-Liturgy unity in our life of faith, beginning with the youngest children and expanding throughout our life!"" --Rebekah Rojcewicz, Executive Member of the International Council for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd ""Ernest Skublics's Plunged into the Trinity could be read by anyone interested in religious ritual. But it should also be read by everyone who participates in and thinks about Christian sacramental life. With ecumenical breadth and catholic depth, this little book bears a scholar's learning and a pastoral heart. Its chapters on the Eucharist are feasts worthy of repeated enjoyment. Eat, drink, and be filled!"" --Franklin Wilson, retired pastor ""Ernest Skublics's book, Plunged into the Trinity, is an excellent resource for all involved in Christian religious education, and not just for the catechists following the catechetical methods of the Good Shepherd, with whom the chapters of this book originated as talks. Skublics is so well placed to provide such an outstanding instrument for catechesis. He has spent a lifetime studying and exploring liturgical and sacramental theology and, more importantly, actively participating in the liturgical assembly."" --Owen F. Cummings, Regents' Professor of Theology, Mount Angel Seminary Ernest Skublics held degrees in theology and liturgical studies from Rome, Ottawa, Trier, and Nijmegen, having earned his doctorate under the direction of Eward Schillebeeckx. He taught at the Universities of Ottawa, Toronto, Saskatoon, Manitoba, and Seattle as well as Mount Angel Seminary, where he was Academic Dean. He was founding President of the Canadian Liturgical Society. He wrote on subjects in Liturgy, Spirituality, Ecclesiology, and Theological Education in Canadian, American, Dutch, German, and British journals, as well as authoring several books. He died in early 2019.
