Winifred Holtby died very early after suffering from Brights Disease, renal failure aged only 37 in 1935. She wrote several novels the most famous being "South Riding". This book has captured the majority of her poetical works which point to periods in her life, WAAC during 1918, ("Trains in France").

Notă biografică

Born March 1940 during 2nd World War, saw two homes destroyed by German Bombing. Educated Sherborne Prep School, Beddington, Surrey, then won a scholarship to Croydon Secondary Technical School. Joined Royal Navy 1957 Saw active service in South Arabia and East Africa. Rose to Weapon Engineer Warrant Officer, retired 1981. Mature student studied at Brighton University, Achieved Higher National Certificate and after awarded Bsc(Hons) Open, degree in Social and Political Science. Joined Civil Service worked for Special Branch and Scotland Yard. Retired 2000. Then worked as an advocate for the elderly in The Norfolk Elder Advocates for the Aged (NEAA) Retired 2005.
