Poetic License: Poems and Short Stories

Autor Jeffrey Pipes Guice
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 30 oct 2021
"Poetic License" is an enthralling compilation of poems and short stories that shares the author's eccentric view of the world, people, and places that shape his unusual way of thinking. The poems and stories in this book dive into the author's understanding of his identity as a friend, father, and a normal human being. The concept of "normalcy" is certainly arbitrary and means different things to different people. But it is the author's hope that whoever reads this book will find at least one poem or short story that will make them laugh, cry, or connect on some normal human level. Most of these poems and short stories started with an actual image, or maybe an initial thought. Whether they start with a dream, a memory, or a totally bizarre visual, these writings dive deeply within - allowing imagination to take over. When writing, author Jeffrey Pipes Guice attempts to transcend his ego, allowing the words or thoughts to write themselves. In 2021, Guice celebrated his thirteenth year of sobriety. It has only been in the last few years that he has finally come to understand himself - including his shortcomings and insecurities. All of this has helped him reach the point where he felt strong enough to write this book.

Notă biografică

The thriving international city of New Orleans is brimming with delicious food, unique music, and eccentric - sometimes backwards - culture. Exposure to such a rich and diverse environment pushed a young Jeffrey Pipes Guice to explore more. He would spend years in Washington D.C. and New York City, and soon travel the world. He traversed Europe, Asia, Africa, and even spent some time in Antarctica. He even spent time visiting exciting places like Jerusalem, Havana, Yemen, Argentina, and Phuket, all in search of discovery. The only place he never set out to discover was inside himself.
