While the world continues to move forward ...LETHAL DANGERS REMAIN FROM THE PAST WARNING: This dated file has been encrypted to conceal the true identities of those who actually participated in the perpetration and resolution of this incident. October 1998...386 barrels of toxic nuclear waste designated for permanent burial deep in the salt deposits of Carlsbad New Mexico disappear between Rocky Flats, Colorado and their destination October 2001...more than 600 men, women, and children of a Bolivian town in the Andes Mountains are found dead, the cause being the water from their reservoir that had been contaminated by nuclear waste identified from that shipment. Attempting to contain the impending furor that will result from disclosure of this disaster, the clandestine Elective Group is assigned the task to cut through the maze of national and international laws, regulations, and red tape to discover who is responsible for this mass murder and to find the missing barrels of deadly poisonous waste. With time and exposure their constant enemy, a small group of exceptional operatives must uncover three years of deception and ruthlessness to uncover the ultimate fanatical motives of the surprising perpetrators. After a second mass contamination in another country raises the death toll over 1,500, the chilling race to bring this case to its ultimate conclusion must take on new dimensions that could significantly destabilize the security and reputation of the United States. "Definitely a page-turner that bobs and weaves like an intricate well-planned suspense-thriller of this magnitude should. Bringing bad people to justice must often follow a complex path to achieve successful results." FROM THE AUTHOR...The timeline for this "Poison" File dates back to 1998 when there actually was enormous pressure on the Clinton administration to deal with the water contamination issues at the Rocky Flats nuclear production weapons facility near Denver, Colorado. Many of the dates and locations in this story are factual. Yet considering what actually happened on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center in in New York City, the politicians involved in the story are obviously fictitious. The transfer of lethal transuranic radioactive waste from Rocky Flats to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, New Mexico is true. The Carlsbad WIPP is actually the third deepest geological repository in the world licensed to permanently dispose of TRW for ten thousand years. Building a story around the rich Native Indian heritage of the Southwest was one of the motivations for writing this book. I first became aware of the ancient Anasazi Indians on a fantastic trip with my wife to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos where I found the Native American culture of the Four Corners fascinating, opening my eyes to proud resilient people. This story is meant to be a tribute to their heritage and unity. But above all, Poison was written for readers to enjoy an intriguing, page-turning story from the first to the last page. To that end, I sincerely hope you will be completely satisfied with the reading time and expense "invested" in this hopefully enjoyable experience. MELVYN NEIL DIAMOND has now authored eight books of fiction in his quest to produce his personal library covering a variety of genres. This is his second "From the Elective Group Files" entry.
