Recenzii

"Dr. Purna Bahadur Karki’s Post-War Instability and Human Security in Nepal is a welcome addition to the scholarly literature on peace and human security in Nepal. The decade-long civil war in Nepal (1996–2006) between the Nepalese government and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) resulted in 17,000 deaths and the rape, killing, and torture of thousands of innocent civilians. Dr. Karki’s book is a sensitive and timely analysis of the causes and consequences of social and political instability in the wake of this war. He also explores Nepal’s parlous state of human security and explains how it can be strengthened. Dr. Karki’s book offers an interesting account of the challenges of building peace and human security in a developing country."
Badrinath Rao, J.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor, Sociology and Asian Studies, Kettering University
"I am delighted to endorse Dr. Purna Bahadur Karki’s book Post-War Instability and Human Security in Nepal. This book is a timely and important contribution to the study of conflict resolution and peace-building in South Asia. Dr. Karki draws on his extensive research and experience to provide a comprehensive and critical analysis of the causes, consequences, and challenges of the Maoist insurgency and the peace process in Nepal. He also offers some valuable recommendations and lessons learned for policymakers, academics, and practitioners who are working on similar issues in other conflict-affected countries. This book is very useful for anyone who wants to understand the complex dynamics of post-war instability and human security in Nepal and beyond. I highly recommend this book to all readers who are interested in peace and development in South Asia."
