L'apparition d'une comète dans certaines croyances africaines est considérée comme un mauvais présage. Dans les années 60, apparut dans ce pays imaginaire une comète ayant la forme d'un sabre et n'était perceptible qu'à l'aube. Les gens avaient aussitôt lié cette apparition avec des événements douloureux. Effectivement, quelques temps après l'apparition de la comète, ce pays connut les événements pénibles de la guerre civile. Adouma, le personnage principal de l'histoire et fils de marabout a fréquenté les deux écoles, coranique et française. Il a vécu la période des troubles qui se situe entre 1960 et 1990. Il a fait la guerre et a été aussi victime des affres de la guerre. C'est un récit émouvant et captivant qui retrace les événements ayant jalonné cette période, alliant histoire fantastique et autofiction.
The appearance of a comet in some African beliefs is taken as a bad omen. In the 1960s, appeared in this imaginary land a comet whose shape resembles that of a sword and it can be seen only at dawn. People at once related this appearance with sad events. Soon after the appearance of the comet this land experienced painful events of civil war. Adouma, the main character of the story and son of a Marabout (an Islamic scholar), has attended both schools, Coranic and French. He lived through this troubled period which took place between 1960 and 1990. He waged war and also endured the harms of war. It is an enthralling and moving narrative that combines fantastic story with auto-fiction.
