Each year, roughly 3 million Americans, including teens, abuse drugs that most people assume are safe. These are drugs prescribed by doctors or bought in a pharmacy. Students will learn to identify the most commonly abused and why people develop an addiction to them. The dangers to society and how health agencies, legislators, and the media are addressing the problem are examined.
