This book investigates the problems the Middletown School District is facing and alternatives that can be utilized to improve learning conditions throughout its schools. The essay offers such suggestions as class-wide peer tutoring (CWPT), student success skills (SSS), add-on programs, technology enhancement, computer assisted instruction (CAI), teacher development, Response to Intervention (RTI), I&RS Committee (Intervention and Referral Service), Curriculum Based Model (CBM), and Curriculum Based Assessment (CBA). There is a need to improve test scores throughout the district and the superintendent has been given the daunting task of creating improvement options for a higher student success rate on the state-wide standardized test. Standardized test scores are the focus of accountability systems. This book will address student and teacher based alternatives aimed at improving school curriculum and instruction.
