This book explores the question of whether there exists a relationship between the efforts at regional integration and the implementation of human rights. A tenet of the expanding European Union is the promotion of human rights, both internally and externally, but would human rights necessarily be advanced if regional integration were to occur in Asia? The contributors - whose disciplines range from economics, political science, history, and the law - provide perspectives on this and related issues.
