Protect the Innocent

Autor S. E. Wright
en Limba Engleză Paperback
Protect the Innocent is an action packed suspense novel about terrorists attacking a nuclear power plant in the United States. The story is told through the perspective of Aahil Naser who seeks to end America's war on terrorism. Aahil is a remarkable man who was orphaned at a young age in Beirut, Lebanon. Forced to live off the streets, he became skilled in the art of survival. From invasions by Syria and Israel to internal conflicts between Muslims and Christians as well as conflicts between Shiites and Sunni Muslims, Lebanon is no stranger to violence. Against this turmoil of conflict, Aahil starts a modest food delivery service that eventually grows into a large business, and the orphan family of five brothers and two sisters start to prosper. Aahil watches in horror at the collateral damage inflicted on innocents as America unleashes its high tech war on terrorism. The unintended damage caused in this war finally reaches home when a missile fired from an American drone kills his youngest brother. In an act of revenge Aahil decides to attack a target that will cause horrific damage. In his mind, he believes the American people will sicken of the violence and force their government to stop the war. In his preparations for the attack, Aahil collaborates with Hezbollah and al-Qaeda, two vastly different terrorist organizations. Through the perspective of the protagonist, differences between Shiite and Sunni Muslims are highlighted as Aahil deals with both organizations. After the attack against America, Aahil and his wife Hazar run for their lives with the FBI and CIA in hot pursuit. The pursuers hire Gordon McNeill's new security company called IPS to help find him. IPS is made up of former Navy SEALs and Special Warfare personnel who know how to deal with terrorists. IPS kidnaps and interrogates the local al-Qaeda leader in Beirut to gather more information on their quarry. IPS also gets into a major battle with Hezbollah in Beirut while chasing Aahil and Hazar. In a high stakes race that spans several continents, the pursuers are relentless as Aahil and his wife desperately try to go underground and hide. Using deception and leaving false trails, the fleeing attackers are pitted against the hunter's technology. This novel is rich in characters and history and provides a unique cultural perspective of Islam while building to its exciting conclusion.
