Part I covers basic information, briefly presenting the epidemiology, aetiology, and pathogenesis of pterygium and associated pathological changes; Part II focuses on the clinical aspects of pterygium to introduce the clinical classification, manifestations, prevention, and nonsurgical treatment of primary pterygium and to distinguish primary pterygium from recurrent pterygium and pseudopterygium; and Part III addresses surgical considerations, with descriptions of the indications, preoperative examinations, and perioperative management, and explains the aesthetic rating and recurrence index for primary pterygium surgery.
