A young attractive producer of a daytime talk show, Cory Slocum is given the impossible task of raising her show's ratings two points in three months. She and her staff adopt a tactic known as ambushing' - getting a guest to come under false pretenses and is humiliated. The tactic backfires and a guest is murdered. Cory, whose life reflects her show, is made the scapegoat by the executive producer and distributor. With the help of the director, Cory has the final say over what people find entertaining.
