In the mid-1960s, the railways in North Wales were undergoing huge change. As fast as steam was being displaced from the main lines, the narrow gauge railways were starting to show their potential as a major facet of the country's tourism industry. There with his camera loaded with color film was John Evans, who witnessed the change and photographed all the fledgling narrow gauge lines, plus both the Cambrian and North Wales main lines in the last days of steam.
