Re–Viewing Le Morte Darthur: Texts and Contexts, Characters and Themes: Arthurian Studies

Autor Kevin S Whetter, Raluca Radulescu, D Thomas Hanks Jr, Dhira B Mahoney, Fiona Tolhurst
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 14 feb 2005
Re-Viewing Le Morte Darthur brings together the latest research in Malory studies by junior and senior scholars. Closely related issues, ranging from the repercussions of the working habits of the Winchester scribes, as well as of Malory's printers and editors, to a reassessment of Caxton's Preface, are addressed alongside nuanced readings of geography and politics in the Morte Darthur and its fifteenth-century contexts. Text and context are further analysed in relation to the role of women, character and theme in the Morte, including the important questions of worshyp and mesure, as well as the issues of coherence and genre.
The title reflects the collection's synthesis of existing scholarship with new ideas and approaches, and is designed to encourage its use by students as well as scholars of Malory's work.
