Reclaiming Breastfeeding for the United States: Protection, Promotion and Support is about the progress the United States health care syste m has made towards reclaiming breastfeeding as the normal way to feed babies and young children. It is also about the work we have yet to do . As the United States continues to integrate and reengineer health ca re services, the significance to the community of breastfeeding initia tion, exclusivity, and duration increases. The United States is worki ng to change the health care model to one in which health promotion an d healthy behaviors seek to reduce costs, and breastfeeding becomes on e of the key strategies for improved health.
