These pages are a condensed Record of the Caverxo Family, in its several branches, from the immigration to this country of its progenitor, Arthur Caverno, down to the present time. How far the author has succeeded in this design, must be left to the judgment of those who are equally interested with him in it. It is not the object of the author to write the history of the family: this would require more time and material than he is able to command. But it is hoped that, should such a history ever be called for, a good beginning will be found in the present effort. That mistakes and deficiencies will be found in this summary, is altogether probable. They could hardly be avoided, considering the way and manner of obtaining the statistics herein contained. The author has done what he could to make the record complete, though, in some instances, as will be seen, he has failed to reach the necessary data.
