Amy's gift of a second sight comes as a premonition on occasion and sometimes in dreams. When Amy attempts to escape her stalking ex-husband by a temporary job on a secluded Oklahoma ranch, she seeks a hideout from threat from abuse. But she soon realizes that there may be a greater threat in this new job. This decision for a hideout leads Amy to open a mystery that oppresses the Barnett ranch. Now a divorced mother with a son of her own, Amy's background on the rodeo trails with her father insures her skillful handling of accounting and livestock for this new boss, Jim Barnett. But Amy never expected the strong attraction that she feels for this handsome rancher. Amy's first premonition that she should not have grabbed for safety in this ranch position comes when she discovers that her new boss has a missing wife and murder is suspected. Mr. Barnett's young son makes fast friends with Amy's son. But when Amy enters the local bank on business, she experiences the uneasy threat of evil from this bank's interior. She looks at the bank tellers, the marble floors, the leather upholstery, the nameplate stating the loan officer's name, and while she can't identify from where this threat comes, she's certain, her new boss, Jim Barnett, needs help. He has no concept of the danger here.
