Notă biografică
Horace Russell, an African-American amputee veteran living in La Mirada, California is a retired social worker who although currently wheelchair bound is planning "Ride with Me," a bike ride across America to draw attention to and solicit help to end hunger and poverty. In 1987 Mr. Russell published the book "The Call to Adventure: A Guide to Domestic and International Travel."
Horace Russell was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 5, 1952. In the late 1950s Horace's family like many African American families escaped the cruelties of the Jim Crowe South moving to the North with all its advantages. Purchasing a nice home in Youngstown, Ohio their home burned to the ground and the family was forced to move into a Red Cross shelter.
