Descriere
Relativity: An Introduction to Space-Time Physics adopts a geometric interpretation of space-time so that the general theory is presented as a natural extension of the special theory. Although most results are derived from the first principles, complex and unnecessary mathematics is avoided. The steps and formulae presented are fully explained and interpreted, often with illustrations. By using this approach, the student receives a rigorous grounding in relativity without losing their way in the more demanding mathematics. In the latter part of the book, Einstein's theory of gravity is outlined as central to unraveling the most fascinating and fundamental questions of contemporary cosmology.
