The Editor: Jeremy Waddington is Professor of Industrial Relations at the University of Manchester and Project Co-ordinator for the European Trade Union Institute, Brussels. He has written extensively on issues associated with trade union structure, organisation and activity in Britain, Europe and the United States. Among his more recent publications are an edited volume entitled Trade Unions in Europe: Facing Challenges and Searching for Solutions (with R. Hoffmann), a book entitled A Comparison of the Merger Process in Britain and Germany: Joining Forces? (with M. Kahmann and J. Hoffmann) and a range of articles in the leading academic journals.
