Robinson & Raft

Autor Michael B. Druxman
en Limba Engleză Paperback
Edward G. Robinson (LITTLE CAESAR) and George Raft (SCARFACE) were two of the screen's premier "tough guys." Aside from their movie personas, they had little else in common. Robinson was educated; a man of culture who collected fine art. Raft, who skipped school whenever possible, grew up on the streets of Hell's Kitchen. His interests were boxing, the racetrack, baseball and women. The actors only worked together twice. The first occasion was for the film MANPOWER (1941), and they did not get along. A scandalous photograph of their fistfight on the set appeared in newspapers throughout the country. ROBINSON AND RAFT is set in the mid-1950s when both actors' careers are at low ebb. Robinson has been blacklisted because of his appearances in front of the House UnAmerican Activities Committee and Raft is being shunned due to his associations with New York mobsters and, in particular, his friendship with Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, assassinated in 1947 in the heart of Beverly Hills. Independent producer Samuel Bischoff has come to the two actors with a proposal for them to co-star together in a new film, A BULLET FOR JOEY. Can Robinson and Raft put egos and bad blood aside to accept this offer that could resurrect both of their careers? Bischoff certainly has his work cut out for him. 3 men; Simple open set
