With the boom in information technology, accessing knowledge and information on career have become easy, but at the same time it is difficult for an individual to take decisions about his job or further studies simply because of the overloaded information. In the age of Internet there has been dramatic increase in the availability and accessibility of information. However, the mere availability of information may not be of much use. Comprehension, use and application usually determine its impact. Under these circumstances they require guidance. Today the options and opportunities are unlimited. In such an environment the success and failure of one's life depends on how early and how well the person plan for his/her career. Hence the requirement for career guidance is felt in colleges and universities and necessary steps have been initiated to guide the youth in deciding their careers. Libraries can play a much important role in imparting career guidance. In developing countries like India college librarians can play a major role in the career development of the youth.
