Christmas is fast approaching, and Miss Madelene Blackmore has been invited to visit her aunt and uncle at their manor for the holiday. Excited to spend time with some of her family, Madelene arrives to discover that her family has made quite a few plans for her stay, including dinner with a very upstanding gentleman, Lord Langley.After an uncomfortable evening, Madelene is distressed when her cousin insists that she and Lord Langley dance together at the ball her family is throwing for her birthday, right before Christmas. She wonders what it is about herself that Lord Langley is so disinterested in. Her cousin, however, seems extraordinarily pleased with the arrangement.Will Madelene be able to make it through the night of the ball with her dignity intact?
