Autor Luigi Lonardo
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 2 ian 2023
This book offers an accessible and rigorous introduction to the context, diplomacy, and law of the European Union’s response to Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The book explores how the EU responded to the war in the initial months, and is based on research carried out on Russian and European political, diplomatic, and legal texts. Presenting a unique interdisciplinary perspective, the book delves into topics such as the EU diplomatic response, the Ukrainian application for membership of the EU, the policy and legal aspects of EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus. Additionally, the book examines the significance of the EU’s unprecedented political response for the constitutional structure of the EU, and for the strategy toward the Russia of the future.

Recenzii

“These books are part of what is becoming a virtual flood of literature on Russian aggression against Ukraine. ... readers will benefit from the authors’ expert knowledge in their respective disciplines and fields of research—the EU in Lonardo’s case and the war itself in Singh’s edited volume. The most valuable parts of both books are the chapters in which the authors or contributors deal with the topics in which they obviously have the greatest expertise ... .” (Stephen Blank, Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs, May 6, 2024)

Textul de pe ultima copertă

This book offers a nuanced, insightful and multi-disciplinary analysis of Russia’s war against Ukraine and EU’s position vis-à-vis this war. It is both an excellent book on the war specifically and EU foreign policy more generally. The book is, indeed, a must-read for now, but also a must-keep for the future.
Gustav Schaldemose, Head of Security Unit, The Prime Minister's Office, Denmark
