Sadie's Wars

Autor Rosemary Noble
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 29 sep 2018
An astonishing tale, spanning continents, where truth is stranger than fiction. This historical saga of an extraordinary Australian pioneer family continues into a new generation. Sadie is brought up amongst the vineyards of the Yarra Valley whilst her work-obsessed father reaps riches from the boom years before the Great War. With post-war depression looming, Sadie's only option is to flee from her disastrous marriage, seeking refuge in Cleethorpes, a small seaside town in northern England. Years later, when her sons are in RAF Bomber Command, she receives a letter from her long-lost brother which forces her to confront the past and her part in her family's downfall. Can old wounds be healed? Will she find new love? Will this second war destroy everyone she saved?

Notă biografică

Rosemary lived most of her early life in the flat lands of Lincolnshire before training as a librarian and moving between the Midlands and the South Coast. She began writing historical novels after retirement and has now written five novels, a children's book, and collaborated on a ghost book and short story collection. Her Lincolnshire roots are evident in three books Ranter's Wharf, Sadie's Wars and The Bluebird Brooch. Before moving to Norfolk, Rosemary was a director of Chindi Authors Network and appeared in various book events in West Sussex.Rosemary's second love is historical research. She worked as a volunteer with the University of Melbourne and Female Convicts Research Centre on a project to uncover the lives of convicts sent to Van Diemen's Land, which helped enormously with her first book, Search for The Light, featuring three young girls transported in 1824. This led to a trilogy - The Currency Girls Saga based on her husband's family in Australia, a real rags to riches and back again story. Her latest book is a departure. The Bluebird Brooch was set in 2019 but is threaded through with a family story spanning over a hundred and fifty years.
