Satellite Gravimetry and the Solid Earth: Mathematical Foundations
Autor Mehdi Eshaghen Limba Engleză Paperback – 17 sep 2020
Bridging the gap between geodesy and geophysics, this book is a valuable resource for researchers and students studying gravity, gravimetry and a variety of geophysical and Earth Science fields.
- Presents mathematical concepts in a pedagogic and straightforward way to enhance understanding across disciplines
- Explains how a variety of satellite data can be used for gravity field determination and other geophysical applications
- Covers a number of problems related to gravimetry and the gravity field, as well as the effects of atmospheric and topographic factors on the data
- Addresses the regularization method for solving integral equations, isostasy based on gravimetric and flexure methods, elastic thickness, and sub-lithospheric stress

Recenzii
"I believe it is best when the author introduces their book. For example, Mehdi Eshagh states, “My main goal was that the book should be simple, complete, didactic, and pedagogic and suitable for researchers in different fields. Eshagh continues, “In my opinion, showing how satellite gravimetry data, which are collected on platforms far from the earth's surface, are related to the gravity field and geophysical phenomena inside the earth is an interesting subject. As the secondary title states, the book presents a mathematical foundation for the global application of these data....
This relatively small-format (9 × 6 in) 486-page volume has more than 180 color figures, some postage-stamp size and others half-page size. Some of the figures are rendered well, and others are not. I would have preferred if there were more full-page color figures; however, black-and-white images are numerous and adequate. Hopefully, these shortcomings will be addressed in the next edition." --Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG)
