Savannah Sampler Cookbook was originally conceived as a collection of the best of the Low Country cookery and restoration recipes from the Savannah News-Press, a publication dating back to 1850 and including author Joel Chandler Harris of Uncle Remus fame among its former editors. Like the Dixie moppet Topsy, Savannah Sampler Cookbook "just growed" to include contributions from acquaintances and relatives.
