Save the Humans
Autor Rob Stewart Evan Rosseren Limba Engleză Paperback – apr 2013
Beginning with a childhood spent catching poisonous snakes and chasing after alligators, Rob Stewart, the award-winning documentary filmmaker behind Sharkwater, charts his development into one of the world's leading environmental activists. Risking arrest and mafia reprisal in Costa Rica, nearly losing a leg in Panama and getting lost at sea in the remote Galapagos Islands, Stewart is living proof that the best way to create change in the world is to dive in over your head. With his efforts to save sharks leading to tangible policy change in countries around the world, Stewart sets his sights on a slightly bigger goal: saving humanity. Criss-crossing the globe to meet with the visionaries, entrepreneurs, scientists and children working to solve our environmental crises, Stewart's message is clear: the revolution to save humanity has started, the only thing missing is you!

Notă biografică
Born and raised in Toronto, ROB STEWART started his journey to becoming an award-winning filmmaker at the age of 13 when he began photographing the underwater world. By the age of 18 he became a scuba instructor trainer and then moved on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology, studying in Ontario, Jamaica and Kenya. Before making Sharkwater, Stewart spent 4 years traveling the world as chief photographer for the Canadian Wildlife Federation's magazines and as an award-winning freelance photojournalist. Leading expeditions to the most remote areas of the world, Stewart has logged thousands of hours underwater, using the latest in rebreather and camera technologies. At the age of 22, he left his photography career behind and embarked on a remarkable journey over 4 years and through 15 different countries, resulting in the multi-award-winning documentary film Sharkwater.
Recenzii
"Save the Humans is...a project of passion--part memoir, part rallying cry, it documents how [Stewart's] love of the natural world made him a conservationist and asks how we can save other species if we can't save ourselves."
—CBC Books
"Chock-full of sobering statistics about the massive depletion of fish populations as well as the wide-reaching threat of ocean acidification. It also details Stewart's adventure-filled, nature-loving life."
—Winnipeg Free Press
"Part Michael Moore, part Jacques Cousteau, Rob Stewart is an interesting hybrid with enough integrity, and enough filmmaker hustle, to swim with the sharks and make us love them."
