Maryann, the little girl whose story is told in Second Chance at Life, is really a fictional character, but she is like many children around the world. Born with HIV, Maryann is raised by her grandmother (“Mum”) after her mother’s death. Been taught the truth by her grandmother. Maryann’s grandmother teaches her about living life to the fullest despite what has seemed to be an abundance of setbacks for her young age. Maryann has often questioned why God took her mother away to heaven so early. Facing the tragedy of life at such a tender age, Maryann even believes that possibly God just doesn’t like her. But all the while, Mum holds fast to her spiritual belief and attempts to show Maryann how to do the same, realizing her time on Earth might not be as long as some.

Author Christine Morgan Weekes sincerely hopes this story touches the lives of those who read it in an uplifting and positive way, giving hope where it seems void.
