Quyen was the star of the basketball team at Nellie McClung Middle School until she had a fight with her coach. Now she must play for a local bantam team, and she's not sure she likes it. Some of the new girls are stuck up, and one in particular seems determined to make Quyen her enemy.
To make things worse, something mysterious is going on at home. Quyen's parents are acting odd, and Quyen is worried that something terrible is going to happen. Could something that occurred years ago in Vietnam be responsible? If she is going to help them, Quyen must find out the truth.
